Thinking Beyond

Donor Spotlight: Jim Sargen

|

Igniting a revolution in health care is no easy task, however, it’s something that the team here at French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) considers to be our greatest responsibility. Our Beyond Health movement is a momentous stride in the direction towards improved health care on the Central Coast—and, it will require support from the community at large to achieve this.

Today, we’d like to thank a local philanthropist that has exemplified an exceptional level of commitment towards the betterment of health care in San Luis Obispo County, Jim Sargen.

“As a long-time supporter of French, I see the initial concept of the hospital expansion coming to fruition, and it is fulfilling to me to be a part of that, as the hospital will serve our growing community for years to come.” -Jim Sargen

Sargen’s commitment to FHMC began in 2004 when FHMC became the only not-for-profit hospital for SLO residents. Since then, he has spent countless hours serving on the FHMC Foundation Board, dedicating his time to numerous projects. Sargen has also personally experienced the compassionate, quality care provided to patients at FHMC. His personal experience at FHMC spurred his interest in helping define the quality of health care that would affect the lives of his family and friends in the future.

Sargen’s generous gift of $500,000 will bring us closer to our goal of providing holistic, big-city health care personalized for SLO’s unique lifestyle—as well as allowing FHMC to keep up with the increased demand for health care on the Central Coast. Your New French Hospital will bring a wide array of new programs and services, technology, green spaces, and a new chapel—among many other improvements as part of the 85,000 sq foot expansion.

Our journey towards redefined health care, however, is far from over. With the addition of Sargen’s gift, the Beyond Health campaign has $110 million committed towards the $130 million needed to benefit Your New French Hospital. Together we can build the foundation of health care on the Central Coast for generations to come.
